The Office for Disability Issues is committed to engaging on an ongoing basis with people from all parts of the community as we work towards our goal of full equality for disabled people.

Government asks people and organisations to comment on changes it is considering to ensure that policy decisions are in the best interest.

There are currently no government disability-related consultations of learning disability policy (this links to the Department of Health website).

Respond by: 11 March 2008

The White Paper 'Valuing People' (2001) set out the Government's vision for people with a learning disability across a range of services. It was based on the four key principles of rights, independence, choice, and inclusion, with a vision that covered a range of issues including health, housing and employment. 'Valuing People Now' seeks views on what the priorities should be for the next three years.
