Communications toolkit for local government

The Office for Disability Issues has published a toolkit to help local authorities produce better information for disabled people.

The toolkit encourages councils to involve disabled people, produce accessible information, test their products, signpost to other services and have a disability champion.

Improving information needs

 Accessible information is crucial if disabled people are going to have equal access to services and entitlements. The Office for Disability Issues (ODI) has looked at how disabled people’s access to information on public services can be improved.

Supporting public services to produce better information for disabled people

High quality public services should be inclusive and accessible. An essential part of this is good quality information. The Office for Disability Issues' Improving Information project looks at how disabled people's access to information on public services can be improved.

The ODI is working closely with disabled people, disability organisations and the public sector to make this happen.
